It begins with a man and a van
It was 1981. A young local electrician in Melbourne set out on his own, equipped with a $700 HQ panel van and an unwavering work ethic. Earning a handsome $12.50 an hour, Gary Freeland was in business.
A small business doing big things
Servicing a multitude of businesses and homeowners throughout the Melbourne region, Lighton Electrics were soon working with a range of well-known organisations in Melbourne, including Ansett, Australia Post and Shire of Yarra Ranges.
The next generation steps into the business
Beginning their apprenticeships with Gary in the early 2000s, his sons – David and Ben – took over Lighton Electrics in 2017. Propelling the growth of the business, David and Ben continue to manage the company today, along with long-term team member, Mark Williamson.
